Louise Brook Reichert

Louise Brook Reichert, age 99, of Ottawa Hills, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. The daughter of Benjamin and Bertha Sheperd Brook, Louise was born on August 12, 1909 in Toledo, Ohio. Due to her fathers various positions as a millwright, Louises family moved frequently and she attended 28 schools prior to graduation from high school. Before her marriage she worked as a secretary at the gas company. On June 2, 1934, she married her husband, Paul F. H. Reichert. He preceded her in death in 1972. Mrs. Reichert is survived by three children: her daughter, Barbara Schlatter; sons, Paul B. Carolyn Reichert and Robert F. Reichert; 11 grandchildren: Louise Schlatter Michael Peatee, Edward Regina Schlatter, Richard Schlatter, Ann B. James Ten Eyck, Robert Catherine Schlatter, Thomas Tania Schlatter, Rev. Paul F. H. Beth Reichert II, Margaret Reichert Adam Kral, Julie Clifford Branstetter, Johnna Kevin Byrne, and Robyn Shane Cook; and 22 great-grandchildren. Louise became a member of Hope Lutheran Church in 1938. Louise volunteered for the St. Lukes Hospital Auxillary Team 8 and the Toledo Hospital for over 50 years. She was a founder of The Village Players and a 50 year member of The Inverness Club and The Toledo Club. Louise loved adventure, and she traveled the world with her husband, friends, and family. Her home and life were filled with stories and pictures of her various trips. She treated each of her 11 grandchildren to a high school graduation trip; traveling with their beloved Nana to destinations of their choice. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mary Horn, Betty Harp, and Micki Gallaher for their loving care of Louise for the past several years allowing her to remain in her home. Friends and family may visit at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. on Friday from 4 to 7pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11am at Hope Lutheran Church, 2201 Secor Rd. The service will be conducted by her grandson, Paul F. H. Reichert II, her nephew, Richard Burgie and her cousin, Fr. Raymond Sheperd. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
