Louise Marie Miklovic

Louise Marie Miklovic, 88, died September 23, 2026. She was born to Frank and Margaret Cox on February 5, 1938 and was raised in Toledo. She spoke fondly of her childhood, growing up in a little house on Gasser Street, along with her 6 siblings.

Louise attended DeVilbiss High School and then University of Toledo, where she was a proud member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and a UT cheerleader. She graduated with a teaching degree and with lifelong friends.

Upon graduation, she married her college sweetheart, Ned, and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Together, Louise and Ned raised three children who survive her: Deanne (Bob) Hyneman, Matthew (Adrienne) Miklovic, and Staci (Jim) Kissel. Deanne and Staci followed in her footsteps by having careers in education. Louise took great pride in the upbringing of her children.

Louise was a high school teacher and influenced several generations of students during her long career. The bulk of her career was spent at Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, Ohio, where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007. She was a physical education teacher and coached several sports, but her greatest joy was found in coaching track. For 30+ years, her high expectations and drive helped develop many excellent athletes. Louise and Ned both became state track and field officials, and they continued this role beyond her retirement.

Louise had several passions in her life. One of these was running. Not only did she run along with her student athletes during practices, but she also became a well-known runner locally. She ran over a 1000 races, and her bookshelves were filled with winner trophies. She was proud of having run in the Boston Marathon and was first place finisher in her age group in the Detroit Free Press Marathon and the Columbus Dispatch Marathon. She even ran in 12 ultra-marathons. In 2004, when she was 66 years old, she set the world record for her age group in ultra-running, racking up an amazing 82 miles within a 24 hour period. Louise served as president of the Toledo Roadrunners Club for several years and also was president of the Northwest Ohio State Track Officials Association.

Louise's other passion in life was her 10 grandchildren. When she became a grandmother, she purposed to become the best possible "Granny" that she could be-and she certainly achieved this goal. Her 10 grandchildren all have fond memories of their time spent with Granny. She and Ned took each grandchild on a special individual trip when they were seven years old. They often had the grandchildren over for sleepovers, pool parties, and took countless trips to the zoo and Imagination Station. Their grandchildren-Nathan, Hannah, Audrey, Everett, Jack, Louise, Isaac, Calvin, Luther and Tessa-will treasure their many memories with Louise.

Louise is survived by 15 great-grandchildren. Also cherishing her memory are life-long friends Patsy Camp and Judy Arkebauer.

Visitation will be at Walker Funeral Home on Sylvania Avenue on Saturday, October 3rd at 1pm. A memorial service will begin at 2pm. There will be a private internment service for the family earlier that morning.
