Louise E. Halas, 91, a native and lifelong resident of Toledo, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek . Louise was born November 2, 1922 to the late Louis and Sarah Parker LaPlante. Following graduation from Central Catholic High School, Louise attended the University of Toledo. She worked in tax preparation both for herself and H R Block. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. In her free time, Louise enjoyed sewing, collecting antiques and other memorabilia. She is survived by siblings, Louis, Francis, Jerry and James LaPlante, Eva Huntsinger, Helen Yglesias and Laura Poiry; granddaughter, Lauren; and a great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Halas; daughter, Linda Halas; and siblings, Arthur, Thomas, George and Henry LaPlante, Clara Wise, Catherine Lentz, Rita Bielawski and Sally Lowenzinski. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Services will begin with prayers in the funeral home on Monday at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
