Louis G. Wehde, Jr.

LOUIS G. WEHDE, JR. Louis G. Wehde, Jr., 88, of Perrysburg, OH died Monday, May 13, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Toledo, OH on February 3, 1925 to Louis G. and Margaret (Berger) Wehde. Louis was first married to Marcia E. Wise who preceded him in death on January 29, 1980. He later married Mary E. Lewis on May 1, 1982 in Perrysburg, OH. Louis was a graduate of Macomber High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a self-employed contractor working as a brick mason. Louis was instrumental in the formation of the Perrysburg Township Fire Department in 1961, holding every office at one time or another. He was appointed chief in 1977 and held that position for over three decades. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Nancy G. (Allen Wells) Swigart of Millbury, OH, Beverly S. Palmer of Millbury, OH, Amy L. Wehde of Luckey, OH, Karen M. (Jack) Wolf of Trenton, OH, Marcia J. (Dirk) Verbrugge of Toledo, OH, Brenda G. (Jeff) Siebenaler of Perrysburg, OH; sons, Jeff D. Lewis of Perrysburg, OH and David A. (Jackie) Lewis of Toledo, OH; twenty-three grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Jack) Shaffer, Cathryn Descamps, and Elizabeth (Cecil) Adkins; son-in-law, Rich H. Gabel. He was preceded in death by both parents, daughter, Pamela K. Gabel, grandson , Colin Siebenaler, and son-in-law, Keith Zunk. Friends will be received from 2-9 P.M. on Thursday in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, OH (419-874-3133) where Perrysburg Township Fireman Services will be held at 7 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10 A.M. on Friday. May 17, 2013 with Rev. Herb Weber officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Cemetery. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the Perrysburg Township Operation Breadbasket, Reach at Blessed John XXIII Catholic Community, or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio
