Louis B. Schneider

Louis B. Schneider, age 86, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Louis was born December 21, 1928 in St. Vincent Hospital to Louis A. and Agnes Schneider. He completed his elementary education at St. Marys Catholic School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1947. Louis was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Army. After returning home, Louis began a career as a meat cutter at Duschls Country Market where he learned to make sausage. He worked at Wolferts Market for 42 years and later for Churchills and Schorlings markets part-time. Family was very important to Louis. He played Federation soccer and also enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and gardening. Louis was a longtime member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister both at church and to the homebound, and was past-president of the Senior Group. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, West Toledo Council 3122, where he was a past Grand Knight and a member of the 4th Degree Bishop James R. Hoffman Assembly #807. Louis is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Ann; daughter, Mary Morris; sons, Paul (Rebecca) and Andrew (Tina); grandchildren, Katherine (Ali), Elizabeth, Matthew, Caroline, Margaret, Michelle, Mark, Christopher, Jacob, Jordan, and Alexander; great-grandson, Atticus; and sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Mary (Milton) Juers, and Rosemarie (James) Fleitz. He was preceded in death by sister, Margaret Hennig; brothers, Eugene and James Schneider; and brother-in-law, William Johnston. A special thank you from Louis family to the loving care of the nurses at St. Annes Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Visitation will be Monday, April 6, 2015 from 2-8:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 pm and a Knight of Columbus Service at 7:30pm. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home Tuesday with 9:15 am with prayers followed by a 10:00 am funeral Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, 4227 Bellevue Rd. Toledo, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Most Blessed Sacrament Parish Capital Campaign or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd. Perrysburg, OH 43551.
