Louis Ken McAtee, 76, of Catawba Island, went home to be with the Lord on, Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, 2011. Ken was born on November 04, 1935 in Port Clinton, OH, the son of John Murl and Mary Beata Seal McAtee. On April 30, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton, OH, he married Mary Elizabeth Leary and she survives. Ken was a 1954 graduate of Port Clinton High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving from 1954 until 1958. Ken was a State Farm Insurance agent and friend to all of his clients, for over 32 years, until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, member and past Exalted Ruler of the Port Clinton Elks Lodge #1718, American Legion Post #113 and a member of the Port Clinton Kiwanis. He loved to golf and had 3 holes in one. Ken loved playing cards and restoring his Lyman boat. Ken and Mary spent the winters in Englewood, Florida after his retirement. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 51 years: Mary McAtee of Catawba Island, Sons: Douglas McAtee of Port Clinton, OH and David Marnie McAtee of Marblehead, OH; Daughters: Denise Ken Ratliff of Marblehead, OH and Diane Kurtis Wylie of Lake Villa, IL; Grandsons: Justin, Dillon, Styles Zachary McAtee, Kody Ratliff and Keegan and Kaiden Wylie; Granddaughter: Elizabeth Ratliff ; Great-Granddaughter: Jasmyne McAtee; Brother: Joseph McAtee of Riverside, CA and Sister: Joy Sherrick of Middletown, OH. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Shirley Mosley and Mary Margaret Reed. Visitation will be 5-8PM, Wednesday, December 28, 2011, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, where an Elks Lodge of Sorrow service will be held at 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Father John Missler at 10:00AM, Thursday, December 29 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with prayers held at 9:30AM, in the funeral home.. Interment will be in Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Ken, may be given to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Tuition Fund or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
