Louis E. Laplante

Louis E. LaPlante, 86, of Maumee, passed away on Saturday September 13, 2014 at his residence. He was born on May 16, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio to Louis and Sarah (Parker) LaPlante. Louis was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He worked for Doehler-Jarvis Corporation for 47 years, retiring in 1990. Louis started growing Dahlias in 1957 and was a member of the American Dahlia Society, the Toledo Dahlia Society (where he was show chairman since 1976), the Michigan Dahlia Society, the Elkhart Dahlia Society, the Cleveland Dahlia Society, and the Doehler-Jarvis retirees club. Louis is survived by his son, Louis D.(Jeanne) LaPlante; daughters, Dianna (Terry) Good; Doris (Dan) Kalka and grandchildren, Jason, Scott, David, Michael, Christopher, Cassie, Shannon, and Crissy; great grandchildren, Evan, Keragan, Ally, London, Chase and Logan; brothers, Francis, James and Jerry; sisters, Rita Bielawski, Sally Lozinski, Eva Huntzinger, Helen Yglesias and Laura Poivy. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Lou, brothers, Arthur, Harvey, Henry, George, sisters, Louise Halas, Katherine Lentz, Clara Wise. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park, Toledo, Ohio.
