Louis Junior Johnson, 84, of Port Clinton died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. He was born on September 11, 1926 in Port Clinton to Louis C. and Arvilla Schlunz Johnson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a shipmate on the LST 1097 in the Asiatic Theatre. On March 8, 1947 in Port Clinton he married Grace Elizabeth VanHoose and she preceded him in death on November 18, 2005. Louis was a retired truck driver and had worked as a commercial fisherman and was a partner with DeMars Fishing. Louis was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #2480 in Port Clinton, life member of Amvets Post #17 in Sandusky, life member of D.A.V. Post #16, life member of the Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent #004, and 29 year member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #2295 of Port Clinton. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to collect gadgets. Louis is survived by his children: Jack B. Mary Johnson of Port Clinton, Kathryn A. Bill Boyd of Largo, FL, Georgiann Gary Matthews of Port Clinton, Lewis Christ June Johnson of Perrysburg, and Lori Jean Bennett of Port Clinton; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant son: Walter Frederick Johnson and brother: Frederick Fritz Johnson. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Port Clinton Bible Methodist Church with Pastor Deron Fourman officiating. Visitation will two hours prior to the services from 12:30 p.m. 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Port Clinton with the V.F.W. Post #2480 conducting military graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in memory of Louis to the Port Clinton Bible Methodist Church or Stein Hospice, Sandusky. Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
