Lori Ann Welty

October 10, 1965 — November 8, 2022

Lori Ann Welty, 57, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family and friends on the morning of November 8, 2022. Born in Adrian, MI on October 10, 1965, to Phyllis and Eugene Coomer. Lori grew up in Blissfield, MI. She graduated from Blissfield High School in 1984. She continued her education at Ferris State University, from which she graduated in 1988 with a degree in Business Administration. Lori then entered the finance industry, eventually founding and owning Welty Mortgage in Perrysburg.

Lori met the love of her life, Ron Welty, in 1994, and they were married in 1996. They recently celebrated 26 years of tremendously happy marriage. When Lori gave birth to their second son, she decided to leave the business world and focus on her family. In their words, she transitioned from her career in finance and became the greatest wife and mom in the world. She was extremely proud of her boys, and so happy that they were good, strong people who are pursuing their dreams; they were the true joy of her life. Lori had a deep, unconditional love for her family and her many close friends, which will remain with them forever. She was an exceptionally positive and selfless person, made a positive mark on everyone she met throughout her life, and even during her recent battle with cancer, never let anyone think she had a bad day. Lori was the ultimate hostess and loved the art of entertaining, opening her home frequently to bring everyone together for a good time. She had such style and exquisite taste.

Lori is survived by her husband, Ron; sons, Jackson and Tucker Welty; mother, Phyllis Mallory; sister, Jodi Truckor (Branden Glecker); brother, Gary Coomer (Lori Kopka); nieces Ashley and Lauren and nephew Brandon; mother and father-in-law, Kaye and Ron Welty, Sr., and her beloved dogs, Dexter and Ziggy. She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Coomer.

The Welty family will hold a Celebration of Lori’s life at The Inverness Club, 4601 Dorr Street, on Saturday, November 12, from 2-5PM, beginning with a brief Sharing of Memories at 2PM. Those wishing to recognize Lori with a memorial gift are asked to consider the Kidney Cancer Association (kidneycancer.org), or the National Kidney Foundation (kidney.org).
