Lori J. Chambers Strauss, 54, of Genoa, died in her home late Tuesday evening, December 14, 2010. She was born November 8, 1956, in Oregon, Ohio, to Gerald H. and Eunice Haar Chambers. Lori married Reggie W. Strauss September 27, 1986, at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa and he survives. For 25 years Lori worked at Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station, Oak Harbor, in the Operations Section, the Radiation Protection Section, and most recently the Regulatory Affairs Section as an Advanced Nuclear Specialist. Lori was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa. She was a 1974 graduate of Genoa High School and graduated in 1975 from Davis College of Business with an associate degree. In 1996 from Spring Arbor College, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Management of Human Resources. She owned and trained horses most of her life. Lori, accompanied by her four-legged companion, Andy, competed during the horse show season, running her horses Sultan and Bugs in the Barrel and Pole Bending competitions. Lori also competed at the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio. She won numerous awards over the years. Lori loved her entire family and especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Reggie, son, Brandon Christine Tester of Sylvania, Tracy Tim Egloff of Cincinnati, Heather Don Blackstone of Charlestown, IN, her grandchildren, Lienna and Raelyn Blackstone and Carter and Morgan Egloff, her mother, Eunice of Genoa, brother, Jim Chambers and sisters, Gail Kent Whitman, Wendy Chambers, Denise Scott Schimming and Gwen Scott Ellithorpe. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her father and brother, Mark Chambers, preceded her in death. The family wishes to thank the following persons for their assistance and personal care during Loris time of need: Bill Baker, Executive Chef of Chefs Galley LTD, Rennale Wynn of Promedica Home Health Care, Jill Walsh, Eva Krall and JoAnn DeLong of Promedica Hospice and the support staff of both organizations, and also Loris niece, Robin Hagarty for her home care. Visitation for Lori will be Friday, December 17, 2010, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. A memorial service will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010, at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, with interment to follow in Clay Township Cemetery.
