Lori Marie Taylor Jones of Ottawa Lake, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and her devoted goldens on Monday, February 25, 2013, after a long battle with diabetes and congestive heart disease. Lori was born October 22, 1960 in London, Ontario. She was a graduate of Roy C. Start High School and lived most of her life in the surrounding Toledo area among her close family and friends. Lori was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Jones; her parents, Gordon and Gladys Buckley Taylor; and her brother, Gordon Mark Taylor. She worked as a tool and die machine operator at Denbro Plastics in Toledo for 10 years. Lori began training dogs in the early 1980s eventually making it her profession working with Pups N People Dog Training. Lori owned Lorfield Kennels where she bred, raised, and trained champion golden retrievers. Although she worked with obedience, agility, rescue, and assistance dogs of all breeds, Loris greatest love was hunting and field trial competitions with her beloved goldens. Lori belonged to several hunting retrievers clubs in Ohio, Michigan, and Texas. She was a longtime member of the Golden Retriever Club of America. Loris love of working with dogs took her all over North America. Lori is survived by her sisters, Kimberly Myer Dr. Joe Peyton, Carrie Jo Perry Ed Shumaker, Andrea Ben Bennett, and Tricia Taylor-Lyphout; step-sisters, Kim Kulwicki, Terri Tracy Holt, and Mary Beth DeLaTorre; step-brothers, Mike Teresa Harris and Dan Jill Harris; step-son, Jeff Tammy Jones; step-grandchildren, Delaney and Alex Jones; and 24 cherished nieces and nephews. Always, the fun Aunt, Lori will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews who enjoyed dog training and other fun adventures with her and Uncle Paul. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful friends who helped Lori through her long battle. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am.
