Loretta E. Desmond

After a long, well-lived life, Loretta E. Desmond, 101 years of age, went to Heaven on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the ProMedica Goerlich Center. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on Willys Parkway on June 9, 1916 to Joseph and Lulu (Young) Traudt. Loretta attended Central High School and became a member of the Omega Delta Phi Sorority. She graduated from Devilbus High School in 1934, but remained a loyal member of the Omega Sorority. She married Lawrence John Desmond in 1939. They lived most of their lives on Harvest Lane and were members of Christ the King Church. Loretta worked as secretarial staff for various companies until the adoption of their children. She enjoyed spending time with family and her sorority “gals” and their spouses. She fixed many family meals and “Supper Club” dinners till she moved to Alexis Gardens in 2011. She is the last survivor of the “gang”. Over the years Loretta also enjoyed bowling at Glass City Lanes. Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, she will be missed by her survivers: son, Terence (Marge) Desmond, Temperance, MI; daughter, Anita (Dan) McKenzie, Fonthill, Ontario; grandchildren, Terry John (Meggan) Desmond, Jesse (Angela) McKenzie and Justen McKenzie; great-grandchildren, Terry Jordan Desmond, Casey Desmond and Madeline McKenzie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; and brothers, Joseph, Melvin and William Traudt. Special thanks to Jeff Nancy Traudt, and the staff at The Goerlich Center. Sylvania Avenue on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, Ohio 43623 on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, tributes in Lorettas memory may be sent to the Goerlich Center, 5320 Harroun Rd., Sylvania, Ohio 43560 or to a charity of the donors choice.
