Lorenz G. Larry Kisor, age 83 died Monday, August 13, 2018 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio Inpatient Unit, Toledo. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Lorenz and Natalie (Glover) Kisor on October 11, 1934. He was a graduate of Ypsilanti High School and earned his Bachelors degree from Michigan State University. He entered the US Army in 1957 in the Armor Division and in 1971 transferred to the Engineering Battalion. After 28 years of both active and reserve duties, he retired in 1994 as Lt. Col., Commander of the 983rd. Engineer Battalion. In 1967 he joined the Sussman Company as a sales representative and retired in 1999 as Vice-President of Sales. The love of Larrys life was aviation. He belonged to area aviation organizations including EAA 582 where he was past president, the Portage Valley Flying Club and a member of the AOPA and a member of the Quiet Birdmen. Larry obtained his Commercial Pilots rating with Instrument, Single Engine, Multi Engine and Instructors Endorsements. He was very proud of his EAA certificate for over 700 missions flown in the Young Eagles Program. Larry received an award for 50 Year Dedicated Service in Aviation Safety by the Department of Transportation , FAA-Master Pilot. He enjoyed travelling and had visited every state except Alaska and also visited every province in Canada. Preceded in death by his parents; sister Natalie A. Lee; and nephews Chris and David Lee, he is survived by his wife Joanne M. (Steger); sons Stephen J. (Lisa) Kisor of California and Ronald L. (Donna) Kisor of Texas; and grandchildren Chad, Megan, Selena, Alex, Jack and Maggie. There will be a gathering of family and friends on October 6, 2018 beginning at 2 PM in Brookwood Metropark, 5604 Swan Creek Dr. Toledo, Ohio 43614 Pictures and stories will be welcome.
