Lorene Hein Cameron

March 16, 1920 — December 18, 2014

Lorene Helen Hein Cameron, born March 16, 1920, widow of Donald K. Cameron, M.D., died peacefully on December 18, 2014 in the care of Senior Independence Hospice at Kingston of Sylvania. She was the second of five siblings born to Barney J. Hein, M.D. and Helen (Striggow) Hein in Toledo, Ohio.  Lorene graduated from Scott High School class of 1937 and from the University of Toledo.  She married the love of her life, Donald K. Cameron, September 25, 1943.  Lorene was a loving and devoted wife, a rock and best friend to Donald.  She was instrumental in supporting Donald with his busy 24/7 family medical practice, including a two year stint in San Juan, Puerto Rico where Donald served as a medical officer in the Army.  These two truly grew old together, were married 68 years, and had each other until their early 90s.  She was also a loving and caring mother.  Together they raised three children, Kendy, Don and Connie.  Lorene and Donald enjoyed many summers at Clark Lake, Michigan.  They enjoyed taking trips especially to the Caribbean.  Lorene enjoyed a lifelong love of dogs, especially her beloved English Springer Spaniels.  We will all miss her frankness and blunt sense of humor as she would always tell it like it is in a way to make us all laugh. Lorene is survived by her children, Kendra (Stephen) Pearse, Donald H. (Barbara) Cameron and Constance K. Cameron.  Also surviving are sisters, Jean Wise and Marilyn Skinner; brother, Barney J. Hein; sister-in-law, Kathleen Cameron; grandchildren, Stephen C. Pearse, Jeffrey C. Pearse, Stephanie (Jason) Cody, Alison Cameron, Donald Scott Cameron, Alex Tyson, Hannah Tyson; great grandchildren, Stephen D. Pearse, Makenzie Cody and Meghan Cody. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; brother, Ned B. Hein, M.D.; and brother-in-law, William K. Cameron. There will be no visitation. The family wishes to express gratitude to the caring staff of Senior Independence Hospice and Kingston of Sylvania.  Memorial contributions can be given to Cuties Fund at Lucas County Canine Care and Control, 410 S. Erie St., Toledo, OH 43604 or through their website at lucascountydogs.com.
