Lola Harper Flores

October 31, 2018 — January 5, 2020

Lola Harper Flores, 14-month-old daughter of Jose Rolan Flores Jr, and Sierra Marie Ritzler, passed away Sunday January 5th, 2020 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio. She was born on October 31st, 2018 at Toledo Children’s Hospital. Lola was a happy, brave, and strong little girl who never failed to give a big smile. At the young age of 4 months old, Lola was diagnosed with AML and ALL Leukemia. Lola started her journey fighting this horrific disease with every ounce of energy she had. She spent many days, weeks, and even months at Toledo Children’s inpatient Hematology and Oncology department. During her time there she grew very close to what would soon become a second family. Lola was never without snuggles and her favorite blanket which was called her “holey”. Even through all of the tears, pain, and the many procedures, she managed to always have a smile on her face at the end of the day. Lola enjoyed being a little sister to her sibling, Arabella. Arabella and Lola grew a strong bond in the short time they had together. One of Lola’s favorite things to do was to dance to “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepper. Whenever there was a rough time or difficult day, you could play that song and everything else going on would just disappear. Lola even learned to say “Momma” and “Dadda” and know just how much she was loved by her family. Lola will be forever loved and missed by everyone she knew. Her legacy and spirit will forever live on in many lives. In addition to her loving parents, Lola is survived by her sister, Arabella, at home; maternal grandparents, Ken Toman and Trina Ritzler; paternal grandmothers Connie Rodriguez and Sonja Howell; maternal great grandma, Linda Shavalier; maternal great grandparents, and Trent and Susan (DeVerna). She is preceded in death by her paternal great grandparents, Eliseo and Tomasa (Flores), and grandfather Jose Rolan (Flores) Sr. Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, at 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday January 11th, 2020, from 12pm until  2pm. A time to share memories of Lola will begin at 2pm.  In lieu of flowers please consider bringing new toys to donate to Toledo Children’s Hospital in Lola’s memory.
