Lois H. Svehla

Lois H. Svehla, 94, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away, May 13, 2014, at Riverview Senior Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born on March 28, 1920, in Port Clinton, the daughter of Henrietta Rohde and Clifford Hineline. On July 15, 1945, in Port Clinton she married George J. Svehla and he preceded her in death on December 25, 1992. She was a member of St John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton. Lois worked for the Port Clinton City Schools as the superintendents secretary and as the junior high secretary retiring in 1978. She was a longtime member of the Literary and Social Club and PEO. Lois enjoyed playing duplicate Bridge and played in several Bridge clubs. She was an avid gardener and took pride in the care of her yard, even mowing her own yard up to last summer. Lois loved to be around people and had friends of all ages. Lois is survived by her daughter, Joy John Dial of Copley, Ohio, and grandchildren, Noelle Dial of Sunbury and Nathan Dial of Akron She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2014, in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Lois may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, 207 Adams St, Port Clinton, OH 43452; or Ida Rupp Public Library, 310 Madison St, Port Clinton, OH 43452.
