Lois Caroline Shogren, 86, of Youngstown, OH, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2016. She was born on December 7, 1929 in Youngstown, OH to Adolf F. and Esther C. Hedlund. Lois was a 1948 graduate of South High School in Youngstown. Following graduation she began her career as a secretary. On October 14, 1950 she married the love of her life, Vincent Shogren, and became a full time homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress, knitter, crafter, baker, and excellent cook. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her family and friends. She loved spending time at Hutchinson Island, Florida and Lake Pymatuning in Pennsylvania. She was a lifelong member and very involved in the life of First Covenant Church, Youngstown, Ohio. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn J. (Jon) Ahlberg, of Perrysburg, OH, Elizabeth A. (David) Enquist of Grayslake, IL; grandchildren, Tiffany (Matt) Wojtowicz, Andrew (Nicole) Ahlberg, Timothy Ahlberg, Matthew (Kristin) Enquist, Caleb Enquist; and great-grandchildren, Owen Ahlberg and Amelia Enquist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; and brothers, Vernon and Donald. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at First Covenant Church, 5210 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, OH 44512. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to First Covenant Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association. In the words of a favorite hymn, “Precious Lord, take my hand….Through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light. Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home.” Lois has been led home to the Lord. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank Funeral Home (419-874-3133).
