Lois A. Sanderson, 87, of Bluffton, Ohio, formerly of Genoa, Ohio, died Thursday afternoon, December 29, 2016, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Lois was born January 7, 1929, in Bluffton to James A. and Freida (Frankhouser) Hauenstein. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Sanderson, on June 28, 2003. They were married in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, on November 26, 1952. Lois was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and gardening. She had been an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Genoa, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and participated in the ladies group. She was also active in 4-H for many years and a Girl Scout and Brownies leader. Lois had been a member of Genoa American Legion Auxiliary, the Ottawa County Historical Society and the Mad River Historical Society. Lois is survived by her daughter, Marna (Steve) Waldenga of Illinois, her son Greg Sanderson of Genoa, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Mabel Black, Helen Foltz and Vera Higgins and daughter-in-law, Shelly Sanderson. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Genoa, with interment to follow in Clay Township Cemetery. Memorial donations for Lois may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church, 313 Main St., Genoa, OH 43430.
