Lois J. Heinsen Marshall

Lois Heinsen Marshall, 74, of Sandusky, Ohio, died Monday morning, August 5, 2013 in the Stein Hospice Care Center. Her loving family surrounded and supported her in her final days. Lois was born November 6, 1938 in Fremont, Ohio, the daughter of Ruth A. Luchsinger and Robert E. Heinsen. She graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1956 and went on to study Nursing at The Ohio State University. After marrying during her sophomore year, Lois went on to earn a degree in Education. She taught English for a short time, and then dedicated herself fully to raising her family until she returned to fulltime work in healthcare again in 1970. Lois retired from Firelands Regional Medical Center in 2003. She has always been an avid reader, and in later years acquired a love for jazz and learned to play the flute. She loved visiting her children and grandchildren in Boston, and loved traveling with them and her sister, especially to her favorite spots in Maine. Lois was very active in her church, singing in the choir, overseeing memorial lunches, and volunteering for summer VBS and wherever needed. She was a docent at the Hayes Museum and loved traveling and reading to learn about Presidential history. Survivors include, children: Paul Edward Marshall, Stephanie Ruth Marshall, Lea Marie Marshall, and Kenneth Robert Sima Juliet Marshall; granddaughters: Alexa Shireen Marshall and Anya Lia Marshall; sister, Kathleen Ruth Leonard; and brother, Edward Robert Heinsen. The Memorial Service will be conducted by Pastor John Mawhirter on Thursday, August 8th at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow a luncheon and be for family only at Lakeview Cemetery, Port Clinton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Lois to the RCC Research Program of the Taussig Cancer Institute.
