Lois P. Hoeft, 80, of Genoa, died Sunday afternoon, January 22, 2017, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. Lois was born November 9, 1936, in Genoa, Ohio, to Paul C. and Janet (Croll) Magsig. She was a 1954 graduate of Harris-Elmore High School and worked for the National Bank of Oak Harbor, the Yankee Pedlar in Genoa, and retired in 1997 after 25 years from the Ohio State Extension Office in Ottawa County. Growing up on her parents farm, she helped with the farming and lambing and was active in 4-H, where she met her husband, Don. They were married March 1, 1958, in Elliston, Ohio, and together planned and built their home. For 25 years they raised and showed pure-bred rabbits, which took them all over the United States and Canada, creating many memories with friends. Over the years Lois was an avid bowler, played softball and enjoyed the outdoors watching Don and their daughters softball games. She cherished going to any event in which her grandchildren participated. While working for the Extension Office, she became an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. Her memberships included the Republican Central Committee, the Board of Elections and the Farm Bureau. In addition to her husband, Don, of 58 years, Lois is survived by her daughters, Jaci Hoover, Kim Hoeft and Cheri Schroeder and grandchildren, Joshua and Lindsay Hoover and Allison and Lance Schroeder. Her parents and son-in-law, Larry Schroeder, preceded her in death. The family would like to thank all her caregivers over the years and especially Holly, her special tech at Fresenius Kidney Care in Perrysburg, to Riverview Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor and to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for her comforting last days. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2017, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017, at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa with burial to follow in Clay Township Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorials for Lois be directed to St. Johns UCC, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH 43430; or Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist. #36, 101 E. 6th St., Genoa, OH 43430.
