Lloyd Arthur Mandell of Olathe, KS, passed away at The Heritage of Overland Park May 21, 2012. Lloyd was born June 22, 1926 in his parents’ sunroom in their home on Lime City Rd., Perrysburg, OH. He spent 83 years of his life in Perrysburg. He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1944; met his future wife (Alberta “Bertie” Little) while bussing tables at Green Gables (the Greyhound Bus Stop). They were married September 8, 1945. He was a veteran of WW11, lifetime member and past Commander of the American Legion Post 28, was a mail carrier and Supt. of Mail at the Perrysburg Post Office and worked part-time for the Witzler Funeral Home and then the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 25, 2002, his parents (Henry E. and Clara “Bessie [Burdo]” Mandell), and two sisters (Doris Mandell and Lois [Norm] Nitschke). He leaves behind two children – Larry (Patricia) Mandell and Judy (Stephen) Barnhouse; four grandchildren – Jeff Mandell, Jamie (Brandon) Pelton, Stetson Barnhouse and Lindsay (Travis) Emery; great-grand-children Madisen, Allisen, and Izabelle Mandell, Brenna and Cole Pelton. Friends will be received at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E.S. Boundary, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) from 4 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 where funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday May 25, 2012 with burial at Fort Meigs Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Vitas Hospice, 4041 South Lynn Court Drive Suite 300, Independence, MO 64055.
