Lloyd J. Behm, 85, of Martin, Ohio, died Tuesday morning, March 4, 2008, in the Genoa Retirement Village. He was born June 17, 1922, in Martin to John and Emma Bergman Behm. On March 24, 1945, in Elliston, Ohio, he married Dorothea Schmidlin, who survives him. Being a lifelong farmer, Lloyd enjoyed keeping up on farming technology; he retired in 2000. He worked for Atlas Industries for 20+ years in Woodville, Gibsonburg and Fremont, retiring in the 1990s. He had also worked at the Erie Proving Grounds during WWII. Lloyd was an active lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church in Elliston, where he enjoyed 50 years of dartball and served on the Church Building Committee as its chairman during the last construction. His other memberships included the Ottawa County Farm Bureau, Soil Conservation & Water and S.C.R.A.P. He served on the Zoning Board and Regional Planning of Benton Township and had served on the Benton Township School Board. Lloyd enjoyed collecting and restoring antique tractors, hunting, fishing and square dancing but his greatest love was his family. He was a gentle, caring man with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothea, who together celebrated nearly 63 years of marriage. Lloyd is also survived by his daughters, Annette Mel Wicks of Maumee, Kathleen Charles Kaylor of Martin and son, Wayne Marilyn Behm of Martin; four grandchildren, Michael Rachael Kaylor, Amy Andrew Walston, Matthew Behm, Sara Don Summerton; and six great grandchildren, Tiffiny Wicks, Dustin Wicks, Michael Kaylor II, Colleen Kaylor, Alexandra Walston and Arianna Walston. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold Behm, sisters, Hilda Oestreich and Luella Pontius, infant brother, Walter Behm, and grandchildren, Jeff and Bryan Wicks. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, in Zion United Methodist Church, Elliston, with interment to follow in Elliston Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to Zion United Methodist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
