Lizzette E. King, age 100, died January 16, 2018 at Rosary Care Center, Sylvania. She was born March 7, 1917 in Sandusky to the late Joseph and Beatrice (Schoen) Schmitt. Lizzette was a 1935 graduate of Central Catholic High School where she excelled in the band and orchestra as a trumpet player. She married the love of her life, Edward King, on September 3, 1938 and together they shared over 60 bliss filled years of marriage until his death in 1999. Lizzette raised eight children and later became the manager of the coffee shop in the Lion Store at Westgate, which gave her little time to herself. She always enjoyed her family and went the extra mile to help in any way that she could. Upon retirement, Lizzette and Edward enjoyed traveling the U.S., especially to Florida. She is lovingly survived by children, Peggy (Ken) Henry, Kathy Sweeny, James (Cheryl) King, Marsha Thorburn, Joseph King and Phillip (Victoria) King; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Heferle and Sister Mary Michel, SND. Lizzette was also preceded in death by two children, Mary Ide and Al King; siblings, Reginald, John, Dorothy, Marjorie, Veronica, Beatrice, Michael and Robert; and sons-in-law, Raymond Sweeny and Russell Thorburn. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) with the Rosary and a sharing of memories at 7:30 p.m. Services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home and proceed to St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo, for 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to St. Clement Parish.
