Lillian Mae Ellenberger

Lillian M. Lil Ellenberger of Charlotte, NC, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Hospice and Community Care House, Rock Hill, SC. Lillian was born September 20, 1917, in Findlay, Ohio to Marion and Anna Russell. She married LaVern Hill in 1937. They began their life together in Burgoon, OH and had 2 children, Linda and Larry. LaVern died in 1949 after a long illness. In 1954 she married Sheldon Ellenberger and they moved to Maumee, OH, later retiring in Clearwater, FL. When Sheldon died in 1997, Lillian returned to Maumee to be near family and friends. More recently she moved to Charlotte, NC, where her daughter resides, and continued her active social life including Bingo, any card game, the Buckeyes, the Bobcats, bowling, golf and most sports on TV and in the Sports page. She was a caring mother and a loyal friend who laughed easily and loved much. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Charlotte. She began each day with pray and Scripture, her favorite being Psalms 19:14. Her prayers for all of us continue. Lillian is survived by her daughter, Linda James Heilman of Ft. Mill, SC, and her son, Larry of Atlanta, GA; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rollin, Andrew and Robert, and sisters, Mary, Cleo and Mamie. Friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee, OH, Sunday, from 3:00 pm to 8 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:15 am, at St. Rose Catholic Church, Perrysburg, OH, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH.
