Lester C. Minneman, age 82, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Perrysburg. Les was born in Springfield Township, Indiana, on May 28, 1933, to Eli A. and Julia M. (Petersen) Minneman. Les was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church at Klemme’s Corner in Brookville, Indiana. He spent his childhood in southern Indiana on the family farms developing a green thumb and a strong work ethic. He attended Brookville High School and then continued his education at Capital University, earning his Bachelor of Science in Education. Les was employed as an engineer at Owens-Illinois for 31 years and was awarded several patents for his projects. Les enjoyed working on his house and yard, and loved summer camping trips and relaxing cottage weekends with his family. He was an active member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Maumee, where he had served as treasurer and on the church council. Once retired, he sought out local auctions and antique farm equipment shows. Surviving are his loving wife Betty, daughters Debi and Sheri, son Scott, seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a sister, Emily (Glenn) Irwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles, and a grandson. Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, Ohio, on Monday, October 5, 2015, from 4-7 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at 1:00 PM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4025 Highland Center Road, Brookville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church (Brookville, Indiana), ELCA World Hunger, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio (Perrysburg).
