Lester H. Evans, 92, of Genoa, Ohio, died early morning on Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Lester was born October 8, 1924, in Gomer, Ohio, to Robert E. and Kathryn J. (Jones) Evans. On August 2, 1943, in Decatur, Indiana, he married Mary K. Golden and she preceded him in death October 1, 2007. Lester retired from DeVilbiss in Toledo in 1986. He served in the Navy during WWII and had been a member of the American Legion Post #133 in Cairo, Ohio, and the VFW Post #7510 in Genoa. His many other memberships included: the Masonic Lodge #205 in Lima, Ohio and #433 in Genoa, the Oak Harbor Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons #162, the Royal & Select Masons of Genoa Council #138 and was Past Master; St. Omer Commandery #59 of Perrysburg, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, 32nd Degree, and the Eastern Star Stella Chapter. Lester had also been a past president of the Bath School District. Following his retirement from DeVilbiss, he worked part time for Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home in Genoa but served many years as administrator and board member to the Genoa Elderlife apartments in Genoa and was also an active member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa. Lester is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Richard) Taylor, grandson, Sean (Sheila) Taylor great grandchildren, Nick Taylor, Mike and Elizabeth Boltz, brother, Willis Evans, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary, brother, Arthur Evans, sister, Marilyn Stimmel, and companion Lois Frederick. Visitation for Lester will be 3-7 p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2017, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 501 West St, Genoa, OH 43430. Masonic services will be conducted Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2017, at St. Johns United Church of Christ with interment in Clay Township Cemetery at a later date. Memorials for Lester may be given to St. Johns Elderlife, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH 43430.
