Leslie Allen Hofstetter, 82, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg on June 16, 2026. His parents, Theresa and Leslie Hofstetter welcomed their youngest son, Les, On October 6, 1943, in Parma, Ohio. Les was preceded in death by older brothers Edward and Paul, and younger sister Mary.
Raised a devout Catholic, he graduated from Cathedral Latin High School, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1961. Although he never continued his education, he loved his country and took pride in serving in the Army National Guard (1964-1970). Since he never served overseas, when thanked for his service, he humbly redirected and shined light on those who did.
He got his first job as a draftsman for the legal patent department at Addressograph Multigraph Corp. There he met his "Babe" Laraine Kasper. They were married in 1966 and two years later gave birth to their only child Kristine. They eventually settled in Chardon, Ohio and were proud of their beautiful home in the woods that he designed and helped build. They attended St Mary's Chardon where he served as an usher for many years and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
After Addressograph, he worked for various companies doing manufacturing design work, including AKMIS, True Mark Engraving, and Rockwell International. He felt at home in his woodshop, mastering his precise woodworking. Instead of buying things that he needed, he used his skills to craft them. Les was never bored, keeping his mind and body active. He enjoyed golf, even working part time at Fowler's Mill Golf Course. As a lover of nature, he spent his time hunting, fishing, exploring, and spending time at the ocean.
In 2014 he moved to Monclova, Ohio to be closer to his daughter Kristine, son-in-law Steven and granddaughters Lindsay, Lauren, and Sharon who survive him. Les is also survived by his older brother Charles and younger sister Margaret.
During this chapter of his life, he enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke's Hospital and Mercy Hospital Perrysburg and being involved at his parish St Joseph Maumee. His endless interests and hobbies included reading, riding his E-Bike, gardening, cooking, canning, and painting. Most of all, he cherished his moments with family and adored his granddaughters. He had a genuine interest in people and made friends everywhere he went.
Les believed that the best thing to do with our time on earth is never stop learning. He inspired not only his family, but everyone he met, and through grieving, we will continue to learn from him what is truly valuable in life.
Visitation and viewing services for Les will take place on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, located at 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537. A prayer service will also be held at 6:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Maumee.
