Leslie Frederick Cordy, age 93, lifelong resident of Lucas and Wood Counties, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 in Heartland of Waterville Care Center. He was born September 6, 1916 in Wood County to Fred and Nellie Carter Cordy. Leslie was employed with Willys Overland, during WWII the Propeller Plant, Loesch Motors in Maumee as the body, fender and paint man, and as a machine operator for the Abbey-Etna Machine Company for over 20 years, retiring in 1983. He was an avid gardener, a self taught washer and dryer repairman, and known as Mr. Fix-it. The widower of Laura Virginia Church Cordy, Leslie is survived by his sisters, Ethel Beskow of Waterville, OH and Evelyn Snyder of Wauseon, OH; daughter-in-law, Nancy Cordy; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and several friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Leslie was preceded in death by his daughter, Frances L. Cordy; son, Thomas L. Cordy; 1 great grandchild; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Family and friends may visit Monday, January 4, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee where funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
