Adaire Ballreich, 59, passed away on August 13, 2025. She was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to Vernon Harris and Maloy (Gragg) Gates, and graduated from Southside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
While visiting her mother in Germany in 1992, Adaire met Steven Ballreich, who was stationed there with the military. After returning to Port Clinton, they married in July 1996 and shared nearly 30 years of love and adventure.
Adaire loved traveling—especially to Europe and the Smoky Mountains—and had a passion for cooking, particularly southern comfort food. She found joy in trying new things in the kitchen and searching for good BBQ restaurants. She enjoyed reading (Stephen King and Jackie Collins were favorites), word puzzles, and spending time with her beloved pets.
She is survived by her husband, Steven; cousins Deanna Abee and Richard Gragg; mother-in-law, Sandra Ballreich; her dog, Tucker; and cats, Kimber and Amanda. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jamie Harris, and many other loved family members.
Adaire will be remembered for her warmth, curiosity, and love for family, food, animals, and adventure.
