Leroy Allen Lauer

Leroy A. Lauer, 73, of Danbury Township, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, at his residence after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Crestline, Ohio on September 15, 1950, the son of Fred and Ruth (Hoffman) Lauer, who have preceded him in death. Leroy married Cheryl A. (Huffman) in Mansfield, Ohio, on November 30, 1980, and they have spent the last 43 years together, raising their family.

Leroy was a kind and loving husband and father to Cheryl’s children; he loved them all and took great pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He worked hard to make sure that everyone had everything they needed and were always safe.

He will be missed by his loving wife, Cheryl, children, Lloyd Kyle Smith III, Lisa Diane Greer, James Dale Smith, and Patricia A. Knighton, grandchildren, Julie McNeal, Richard (Justine) McNeal, Michael McKeever, Iris Smith, William Smith, Mollie (Nathan) Schaffer, Hunter Knighton; great grandchildren, Marci, Kayden, Carter; and brother, Fred Lauer, Jr.,

Leroy was preceded in death by his stepsisters, Jan Walker and Shirley Tesso; his parents; as well as his brother, Mark Allen.

Services for Leroy were private and the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, Ohio, assisted the family with arrangements.
