Leonard G. Schneider

Leonard Gilbert Schneider age 75 of Maumee, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at The Toledo Hospital. Leonard was born in Ashland, Nebraska on May 11, 1942 to Leonard G. and Esther (Ingraham) Schneider. He was a 1960 graduate of Maumee High School and went on to serve his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Forrestal. After serving in the US Navy, he attended the University of Toledo. Leonard was employed as a pipefitter and was a 50 year member of Local 50 Plumbers and Steamfitters in Toledo. He served on the ADA Advisory Committee for the City of Maumee and also served as a precinct captain. Leonard was a member of the Democratic Party and Indian Hill Boat Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bicycling, motorcycling; his monthly breakfast meetings with his classmates; socializing with his many friends and Friday Grandpa Day with his grandchildren which included COSI, The Toledo Zoo and other activities. Surviving is his best friend and loving wife of 51 years, Nancy Martin Schneider; sons, Ronald (Therese) and Andrew Schneider; grandchildren, Melinda Ann Schneider and Lauren Lee Schneider; step-sisters, Myra Reaume and Judy Leach; nephews, Buzz Rothenbuhler, Jason Schneider and niece, Lynn Ellen Hurd. In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Rothenbuhler and Jean Romanofsky; brother, Carl Schneider and a nephew, Jon Rothenbuhler. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 6, 2017 at Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett St., Maumee, OH.
