Leonard Michaels

Leonard L. Michaels, age 67, of Rossford, OH passed away at home on July 26, 2022.

Born June 25, 1955 in Belarus, Russia (Leonard M. Livshits). At age 25, he and his family moved to the United States and settled in the Grand Rapids, MI area.

Leonard being a quick study, college educated civil engineer was successful at learning English and becoming a U.S. citizen and licensed civil engineer in both MI & OH. His relocation to the Toledo area was to join SSOE Architectural Design team and when he left them, he became proud business owner of C. I. W. Engineering. He later became an OH Mason and Educator at Stautzenberger, Toledo University and Owens Technical College. He also served as a Rossford City Councilman and board member at Northwestern Water and Sewer District.

Leonard celebrated 20 years of marriage to "the Love of his Life", Susan McGrath, Hemminger, Michaels. He was her "BFF", adoring spouse, amazing stepfather to her son, Justin, Best Big Brother to sister, Kira, loving nurturing and supportive uncle, nephew, cousin, mentor, teacher and friend to numerous others. He enjoyed meeting for breakfast, coffee/tea, pastries, politics and poker. He had fun watching Red Wings hockey, fishing, camping, visiting Rossford Marina, drives along the river and going to farmer's markets. His great love of family made family gatherings his absolute favorite! He was over the moon proud to spend time with "granddaughters" Alyce & Olivia Ward. Always sharing his humor, inspiration, advice and stories brought joy and laughter to every occasion.

Leonard was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Faina & Mikhail Livshits

Survivors at the time of his death include his loving wife Susan, "Suzie"; stepson Justin (Erin Ley) Hemminger; sister Kira Mayorga; nephew Shawn and niece Gabriela Mayorga; uncle Lev (Galina) Kaganovich; aunts Berta (Peter) Bekker and Sveta Sorokina.

Cousins and their families; Ludmila (Boris) Kogan and Dmitry Livshis (IL); Alex (Georgia) Spivak (MI & CO); Igor "Tony" (Michal) Spivak (NY); Oleg (Margaret) and Dmitry Koganovich (CA).

Leonard is and will always be greatly loved and missed. The lifetime of memories he shared with us all will keep him close to our hearts forever!
