LEONARD V. “BONO” KLAEGE Leonard V. “Bono” Klaege, 76, of Walbridge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2013, surrounded by his loving family in Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Leonard was born on November 15, 1936, in Jerusalem Township, Curtice, Ohio. He was the oldest of six children born to Otto C. and Ida P. (Lindsay) Klaege. He attended Clay High School and Bono Tech. After 43 years Leonard retired in 1998 from the former Libbey-Owens-Ford Company, wareroom at the Rossford Plant. He was a glass packaging designer for shipment throughout the country. After retiring he and his wife spent their winters in Florida, enjoying the warm weather and fellowship of friends. In the past Leonard was involved with the German-American Festival Society. He enjoyed taking on projects to expand and improve the grounds for the festival. He had memberships with the GBU Financial Life, Toledo Schwaben Verein, Toledo Swiss Society and the Fraternal Order of Police Associates. He also had memberships with clubs at Altoona, PA: Bavarian Aid Society, and the Swiss Club. Leonard was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church at Latcha, Ohio. It was there in 1974, that he met his future wife while serving as deacon of the church where she was the organist. Leonard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Ellen; daughter, Karen (Justin) Klaege-Zimmerman; and grandchildren, Graham and Reese; sister, Arlene (Milton) Wilburn, brothers, Earl (Carolyn) Klaege and Harold (Becky) Klaege. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Otto (infant) and Kenneth. Friends will be received on Sunday, July 21, 2013, from 2pm-8pm in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home 701 N. Main St. Walbridge (419-666-3121). Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church 26535 Pemberville Rd. Perrysburg, Ohio at 11:00 A.M.
