Leona P. Jones

Leona “Lee” Jones, 88 of Toledo passed away Mach 7, 2022.  Leona graduated as salutatorian from Bedford High School and was a summa cum laude graduate from the University of Toledo.  Past accomplishments included employment as an Executive Secretary with Owens-Illinois and a business teacher for 30 years with Toledo Public Schools at both Bowsher and Start High Schools.  She enjoyed traveling throughout different parts of the world and cruising.  She also enjoyed needlework projects, tennis, golf, reading and everything involved with a happy retirement with her husband, John.  Lee and her husband had lived in Naples, FL for 21 years before returning to Toledo.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John; sister, Emily Keenan; nephew, Brad Ginther; favorite Aunt and Uncle, Eleanor Benner and Arnold Strzelecki; sister-in-law, Marcia (James) Jones; and brother-in-law, Robert Jones.  She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and several cousins.

A special thanks to the staff and care givers at both Charter Senior Living and Elara Care for the special attention they provided for Leona.

Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. on Friday from 10 am until 12 noon.  Funeral services and burial will be private.  Condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com
