LEON E. HAM Leon “Bud” Ham, born to Blanch (Pennington) and Donald Ham, died December 3, 2014 at Perrysburg Commons where he resided for nearly 16 years. A lifelong resident of Perrysburg, Ohio, Leon served in the Navy Air Force during the Korean War as a communications operator. He attended Bowling Green State University earning his degree in elementary education. Leon was a beloved teacher who taught fourth grade for 30 years at Birmingham Elementary in Toledo, Ohio. He enjoyed playing Euchre and in retirement, Leon spent countless hours researching his genealogy and traveling to England to be with family and friends. Leon is survived by sisters, Evelyn Gambill of Portsmouth, Ohio and Alliene Sabo of Perrysburg, Ohio; step-daughter, Brenda (Mike) Michalak and son-in-law, Phil (Carol) Johns, who were always there for him and whom he loved as his daughter and son. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leon was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-laws, Larry Gambill and Ernie. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133).
