Leo T. Kazmierczak, 96, of Maumee, OH passed away Monday, August 27, 2018. He was a retired letter and rural route carrier at the Maumee Post Office retiring after more than 30 years of service. He was born May 2, 1922, in Toledo to Michael and Catherine (Graczyk) Kazmierczak. He graduated from Macomber-Whitney and later joined the US Army Air Corps in November 1940. He was a staff sergeant with the Quarter Master Corps and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Leo enjoyed taking road trips and traveling around the country. He especially enjoyed camping and fishing trips to Michigan and Canada with his sons. His favorite fishing spots included Houghton, Mullett and Burt Lakes. He also enjoyed visiting the area’s senior centers and playing euchre, pinochle and bridge with his fellow seniors. He is survived by his children Julie Newby, Rick (Pam) Kazmierczak, Dave Kazmierczak, Bob Kazmierczak and Karen Krzyminski; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia (Ladadie), siblings Joe, Ted, Stan, Josephine, Helen and Mary and daughter Janet. The family will receive guests on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee. Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 9:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee.
