Leo J. Flury Sr. Anne B. Flury Leo J. “Bud” Flury Sr., 92, of Clearwater, FL, passed away on February 4, 2015. Anne B. Flury, 88, his loving wife of 64 years, followed soon after, on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Both passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Both Bud and Anne were born and raised in Toledo, OH., and both graduated from Scott High School. Bud attended DeSales College and the University of Toledo until he was called to active duty in the Army. After WWII, he returned to Toledo and started what would be a career of more than 30 years at the Electric Autolite/Pretolite/Eltra Corporation. He rose through the ranks to Controller and eventually Assistant Treasurer of post-merger Eltra Corporation. Anne graduated from the University of Toledo and went on to receive her law degree from the University of Georgia, in the first class to graduate women in 1948. Upon graduation, she took a position with the Toledo Bar Association and helped establish its Attorney Reference Bureau, a precursor to Legal Aid. After marrying, and while raising five children, she continued her service to the community as a volunteer for the United Way, St. Anthony’s Villa, Toledo Hospital, St. Ursula Academy, and St. Francis de Sales High School. She concluded her time in Toledo as the Director of Volunteer Services at Toledo Hospital. Anne and Bud continued their volunteerism after retirement to Florida. When not playing tennis or golf, they were reading tutors at the local elementary school and volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Anne was a member of the Clearwater Panhellenic Alumni Association. Anne was a lifelong avid reader, while Bud was committed to his daily water aerobics Anne and Bud were predeceased by his sisters, Joanne and Jeanne Flury, and her sister, Vivian Beeler. They are survived by their daughters, Mary Collins and her husband Stanley of Asheville NC; Sue Flury of Altamonte Springs FL, Frances White and her husband Joseph of Traverse City MI; Patricia Stankey and her husband Daniel of Broadview Heights OH; son, Leo J. Flury Jr. of Orange CA. ; 13 grandchildren and one great granddaughter; Anne’s sister, Mary Alice Brogden of Branford CT; brother, Roland L. Beeler Jr. and his wife Joyce of Grand Blanc MI. Graveside services will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Toledo, OH, on Saturday February 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. Local arrangements through Walker Funeral Home, 419.841.2422.
