Leland Wayne Siddens, known by most by his middle name, was born to Mary and Forrest Siddens at the family home in Danville, IL on December 19, 1930. Shortly following his graduation from Bismarck High School in Danville, Wayne worked for a time for a local florist before moving to Toledo, OH. In Toledo, he worked for Helen Patton Florist in Downtown until opening his own shop on West Bancroft. In 1955, Wayne and his late partner, Robert Valentine, opened Wayne Siddens Antiques. Over the following decades, the business managed many estate sales, including those of prominent community members. Wayne continued working until well into his 80’s and when not working, he travelled extensively throughout England, Ireland, Europe and the Far East, including several trips to China. Survived by his brother Bill (Becky), five nieces and two nephews, several great-nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Carol Siddens and a number of beloved cousins, Wayne was preceded in death by his partner Bob Valentine, his parents Mary and Forrest, his brother James, and three sisters; Lois, Anna and Dorothea. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the outstanding staff at the Ebeid Hospice Center who cared for Wayne during his final days. Also, many thanks are due to Ron, Glenn, Ruthie, George, Randy, Gary, Jamie, JR, Dan, and Sue for their long-time friendships and for being with Wayne at the end of his life. Calling hours will take place on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH 43623 where a memorial service will take place at 6:00PM. A private interment will be held for the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Promedica Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania or to the Toledo Museum of Art in honor of Roger and Rhoda Berkowitz.
