Lela E. Green

Lela E. Green passed on to the presence of her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. She was born June 11, 1932, to John and Kate Prather and grew up on a farm near Union City, Tennessee. On New Years Day 1949 she married Vernon J. Green. Early in their marriage they relocated to the Northern United States and settled in Oak Harbor in 1956. They raised three children and nurtured four grandchildren at their Park Street home. Lela was a homemaker and had a very active involvement in their childrens school and athletic activities. She served her community for many years as the local coordinator for Red Cross Blood Drives, and she was a tireless volunteer for Ottawa County Holiday Bureau. Lela was a 50+ year member in the Order of the Eastern Star, Port Clinton Chapter No. 267, and a longtime member of Oak Harbor United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents and her two older sisters, Mary Lyle Blanton and Dorothy Yvonne Wood. Lela is survived by Vern, her husband of 64 years, sister, Shirley R.C. Crews, sister-in-law, Vidus Green and many nieces and nephews. Mom is also lovingly missed by her children, Pat Michael Gostanian, Keith Debbie Green and Anita Brower, grandchildren, Katie Noah Myerholtz, Jenny Dan Schmidt, Serena and Maia Brower, and one beloved great grandchild, Kaylin Myerholtz. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2013, with a service by the Eastern Star, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Burial will be at a later date in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, Ohio. Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church, 360 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Memorial donations for Lela may be given to the American Red Cross, 1854 E. Perry St. Suite 600, Port Clinton, OH 43452; or the Ottawa County Holiday Bureau, P.O. 423, Oak Harbor, OH 43449.
