Leeroy Arnold Duty, born on January 3, 1944 to Clara (Diebert) and Nelson Duty in Bradner, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2022 and is now with his Lord and Savior. He spent most of his childhood working and playing on the Duty family farm in Millbury, Ohio.
He married Kathy Kruse on November 19, 1971 and they had 4 children; they divorced in 1995. Leeroy loved his family with his whole being.
He had several jobs before his long term disease caused him to be disabled. He worked for Prestolite, Martin-Marietta and GTE.
Leeroy was “one of a kind.” He was a very giving man that spent his life trying to help people. His grandchildren will remember him for his words of “Thank you for being my grandkid.” They were very special to him.
He loved his country music and any time spent with his family. He enjoyed tinkering with things. He also loved his church family and friends. He was a member of Calvary Bible Chapel East in Toledo, Ohio. His greatest treasure was knowing he was going to a better place and knowing once he was free of his flesh, he would be free of pain and suffering.
Leeroy is survived by his son, Nelson (Amy) Duty; daughter, Kit (Chuck) Carroll; grandchildren, Autumn (Tristen) Duty-Smith, Raeanna Duty, C.J. Carroll and Laruen Carroll; and great-grandchildren, Molly & Tristen Smith and Jennifer Langwell. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Jennifer; daughter, Laurie; and brothers, Calvin and Richard.
Leeroy, Dad, Grandpa and Papa Leeroy will live on in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
The family would like to thank Unique and Blackstone Home Health Services for all his great care over the years. A special thank you to his nurse, Erica. Leeroy appreciated you and had a special place in his heart for you and your kindness. Another special thank you to the staff at Ottawa County Riverview HealthCare Campus for the special care over the past few weeks.
