Born on the tenth of May, 1925, to Oscar Rudolph and Anne Rose Jensen in Perrysburg, Ohio, “Larry” attended St. Rose parochial and Perrysburg High School, graduating in 1943. Larry enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 and served in the South Pacific at a Fleet Hospital on the island of New Caledonia as a Disbursing Storekeeper (2nd Class Petty Officer) and later aboard the U.S.S. Pocono in the Atlantic Ocean. Upon discharge from the Navy, Larry attended Bowling Green State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He graduated in 1950 as President of his senior class. While attending B.G.S.U, Larry met a local Perrysburg girl, Jean Martin, who was attending MacMurray College for women in Jacksonville, Illinois at the time. She transferred to B.G.S.U. and they were married in 1949. Larry was active in Delta Tau Delta Fraternity as an undergraduate and later, in post graduate years, as Chapter Advisor and member of the House Corporation. From 1956 to 1959, Larry served on the Perrysburg Village Council for two terms; the Planning Commission; the board of Elm House, a senior citizen housing development, as well as many other civic organizations. Larry’s professional career included project management for Nicholas G. Beresky Co., residential construction, land development, and real estate sales; Bio-Fit Seating Manufacturer sales management; and commercial sales development with Hayes Travel Agency. In 1986, Larry and Jean moved to Hilton Head Island and enjoyed life there until Jean’s death on May 1st, 2000. Larry continued to live on Hilton Head until July 2003, when he returned to live in Perrysburg. During their time on Hilton Head Island, he worked for Island Communications in distribution; volunteered at Hilton Head hospital; was Charter member of the Country Club of Hilton Head; was a member of Hilton Head Plantation Yacht Club; the Navy League; and member of St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church where Jean’s cremains are interred in the columbarium. Larry is survived by sons Michael, of Long Beach California; Craig, Chicago Illinois; Anne Jensen Schmidt (William), Perrysburg, Ohio; Nancy Jensen Arndt (Kenneth), Algonquin, IL; Patrick (Rebecca), Boulder Colorado; and sister Elizabeth Jensen Zupi (Louis, deceased), Chillicothe, Ohio. Grandchildren include Kyle, Leah and Emma Jensen; Carl Schmidt (Keri); Sarah Schmidt; Andrew Schmidt, Michael Schmidt; Stephen Arndt (fiancé Kylie), David Arndt (fiancé Chelsea), and Kevin Arndt; Carrie and Sarah Jensen; great grandchildren Charles and Grace Schmidt. A funeral mass will take place at St. Rose Catholic Church, Perrysburg, Ohio, on Saturday, January 11th, at 11:00 a.m. Larry’s cremains will be interred with wife Jean’s in the columbarium at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina at a later date. Larry’s family will receive friends after the Mass at Carranor Hunt and Polo Club, 502 E. 2nd street, Perrysburg, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, bequests may be made to a hospice care organization of the donor’s choice or the Parkinson’s Research Fund, c/o Dr. Lawrence Elmer, University of Toledo Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.
