Degnan Lawrence Larry Lawrence Larry Degnan, age 73, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Toledo Hospital. Larry was born in Toledo to Norman and Carmelita Degnan on September 27, 1935. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1953 and joined the US Marines that same year. Larry developed a passion for boxing during his high school years and continued boxing while in the Marines. After returning home from the service he trained younger boxers with the Toledo Golden Gloves. He graduated from the University of Toledo in 1962 with a degree in Business Finance. Larry began Degnan and Associates, a real estate appraisal business, in the early 1970s and established himself as an industry expert. He shared his knowledge by teaching real estate classes at the University of Toledo. Larry was a member of the UT Alumni Association, and Krew of Bacchtus in New Orleans. He served locally on the Committee for Effective Government, held various local and statewide positions for the Appraisal Institute, and served for many years on the Finance Committee at St. Clements Catholic Church. He was currently serving on the Parish Council at St. Patricks Historic Church and was very active with DeSales Outreach Center. Larry is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughter, Denise Rich Moore; sons, Brent and Grant Degnan; grandchildren James Dumke and Connor Degnan; sisters, Diane Roach, Helen Flynn, and Maryann Barber; and brothers, John and Dennis Degnan. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the doctors and the staff of the Toledo Hospital 4th floor oncology unit and SICU. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-9:00pm with a 7:30pm Scripture Service at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will begin on Monday with prayers at 9:30am. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Monday at 10:30am at St. Patricks Historic Church, 130 Avondale, Toledo, OH.
