Laverne Frutiger

Laverne Frutiger, age 87, of Temperance, MI, passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born November 26, 1920 in Toledo to Arthur and Etta Welling. A graduate of DeVilbiss High School, she attended Davis Business College. She married Harold G. Frutiger on June 7, 1941. Laverne traveled with her husband while he was in the service and just recently completed a book about her experiences during that time. Moving back to Toledo, she and Harold raised four children. She was a church secretary and nursing home activities director. In 1976, Laverne, Harold and son, Hal, began Tiger Products, distributor of cleaning products. She was a past member of Augsburg Lutheran, Zoar Lutheran Church and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ft. Meyers and currently a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Temperance. She was a member of Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America LOSNA, Dendarah Court #10. She and Harold traveled extensively in the United States and abroad before and during retirement. Lavernes faith and her family were the most important things in her life. The widow of Harold G. Frutiger, she is survived by her son, Hal Debbie Frutiger; daughters, Sharon Ed Hafferkamp, Nancy Larry Janney, and Joyce Chuck Calmes; grandchildren, Linda Frank Saylor, Mike & Scott Hafferkamp, Steve Jennifer, Jeff Liz Janney, & Lori Bob Grice, Matt Martha, Andy & Kevin Calmes, Zach, Clint & Katie Frutiger; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Sanzenbacher; and special nieces, nephew and many friends. Friends and family may visit on Thursday from 2 to 9 pm with LOSNA services at 8 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am. Interment will be at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Temperance, or Shriners Childrens Hospital
