Lauretta Mildred Peters of Toledo, Ohio formerly from Oak Harbor, OH and Florida passed away June 22, 2011 at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital, Toledo. Lauretta was born March 14, 1921, the daughter of Amiel and Bertha Streetz Helle of Curtice, Ohio. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church of Williston, Ohio. She married Wilbur Peters of Oak Harbor, Ohio September 30, 1939 at St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, OH. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1999. They owned the Peters Egg Ranch near Oak Harbor, Ohio for many years. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Oak Harbor, Ohio and also taught Sunday School. Lauretta was active in the Mother of Twins Club, and was crowned Ottawa County Mother of Twins of the Year in 1958, she was also President of that club, and Chairman of the Ohio State Twins Federation Convention. Lauretta was also active in the Elmore Bank Mothers Club, Elmore PTA, Elmore Civic Club and Red Cross First Aid. Lauretta and Wilbur were active in the Buckeye Square Dance Club for 40 years, they also volunteered for many years at the Florida State Fair. She loved sewing, crafting, making wedding cakes, playing cards, and loved to golf while in Florida. She is survived by her six children, Judy Hershel Hannam of Martello, Iowa, twins Diane Larry Kashmer of Oak Harbor, Ohio, David Darlene Peters of Glendale, Arizona, Janice Greg Bollin of Manitou Beach, Michigan, Darrell Katrina Peters of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Debbie Jon Berger of Wooster, Ohio. Lauretta also has 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and nephews and nieces. She is survived by a sister Edna Weirich of Toledo, Ohio. Lauretta was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Wilbur of 59 years, sisters Mayme Foss, Sophie Cook, Agnes Behm, and Dorothea Martin, brothers Alfred, Amiel, Lester, Lawrence, Harvey and Burton Helle. The family wishes to thank Dr. Thomas Andreshak, the staff and doctors at St. Vincent Hospital, especially the Palliative Unit and the wonderful care she received from Odyssey Hospice. Lauretta wishes to have a private graveside service for immediate family only, at a later date.
