Laurence C. Klein, 78, of Perrysburg passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at McLaren St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born June 6, 1942 in Streator, Illinois to Carl and Virginia (Kilby) Klein. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann Arrigo on November 11, 1967 and they shared 54 years together. For ten years, he proudly served our country in the United States Navy. Five of those years, he spent aboard submarines, the most notable being the Nautilus, the first nuclear submarine. In 2016, he celebrated 50 years being qualified on submarines and became a member of the prestigious Holland Club. He was also an active member of the Toledo Submarine base. Larry and his family lived in Las Vegas for many years where he worked as a superintendent in construction. But his passion was building and fixing things, most which was learned by watching and helping his dad. Larry was the one who could repair, rebuild or create anything. When something was broken, we would “put it on the bench.” Anything that was put on that bench, he was able to fix. Larry will be remembered for his great sense of humor and love for his family. Larry loved his life and nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Liz; daughter, Kimberly Rogers; grandchildren, Jacob, Emily and Megan Rogers; sister, Gretchen (Gary) Katrein; sister-in-law, Rosemary (John) McDonnell, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s ICU back for the wonderful care that was given to Larry, especially Dr. Veronica Rosenburg for her care and kind words during a very difficult time. Friends and family will be received Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 1-2 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133), where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Inurnment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. For those unable to attend, the memorial service will be livestreamed on Laurence's obituary page at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
