Laura (Jenny) Schoenlein of Perrysburg, Ohio passed on into The Lord’s arms on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at the age of 85. She was born on March 21, 1929 to John and Mary Conrad in Dallas, Iowa. While working as a telephone operator she met and married her life partner of 56 years, Luke Schoenlein. He survives. The couple was blessed with 6 children, Mark (Meg) Schoenlein, Theresa Stevens, Becky (Doug) Williams, John (Joyce) Schoenlein, Bill Schoenlein and Julie (John) Pile. They have 15 grandchildren, Catie (Erich), Robert, Emily, Sara, Erin, Landan, Andrew, Ryan, Nathan (Brianna), Michael, Melissa, Kelsey, Max, Sophie and Joseph. Jenny was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Father Anthony Conrad, Marcel, Adrian and Victor; sisters, Frances, Margueritte, Edna, Sister Luitgardis, Pricilla; and son-in-law, Jim Stevens. Her brother Alfred survives. Jenny was a member of St. Rose Parish where she served as a Eucharistic minister. Jenny’s love of music led her to singing in the St. Rose Choir and Perrysburg Symphony Chorale. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. Jenny was also active in the Perrysburg Senior Center and the Perrysburg Teen Center. In 2012, Jenny’s fight with dementia led her to her second family, the caring staff at Parkcliffe Alzheimer’s Community, where she resided until her death. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Parkcliffe for the support and love they have given Jenny, Luke and the family. They would also like to thank Senior Independence Hospice for all of their support during Jenny’s final journey to The Lord. Visitation will be held at Witzler Shank Funeral Home, 222 E.S. Boundary St., Perrysburg (419-874-3133) on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM with a scripture service at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front St., Perrysburg on Saturday, August 16 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, the Senior Independence Hospice or Parkcliffe Communities.
