Laura F. Parks passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. Laura is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, F. Leroy Bud Parks; children, Natalie Hunter (Robert), Cornwall, CT, Cheryl Francis (Zed III), Burr Ridge, IL, and Thomas Parks (Celeste), Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Nicholas (Naoco) and Amanda Hunter, Zed IV and Michael Francis, Douglas, Catherine and Alexandria Parks; great grandchild, Ray Hunter. She also had the enjoyment of many nieces, nephews and friends. She was born of parents Bayliss and Lula (Lenardson) Griffin and lived as a child in Richfield Center, OH. She graduated from Burnham High School, Sylvania, OH and attended Davis Business College. She worked as an executive secretary at Owens-Illinois Glass Company, Toledo, OH. Laura was a leader in her church community and many neighborhood and social groups for over 70 years. She delighted in entertaining family and friends even until her last days. She loved to play games including golf and bridge; and was a fierce competitor in the annual Parks family Turkey Cup competition, including being the inaugural winner in 1997. Laura provided a living example of optimism and spirit to all she met. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bayliss and Lula Griffin; husband, Lt. Kenneth Shull in WWII; brothers, Lenardson and Owen Griffin (Cay); and sisters, Helen Day (Paul), Ruth Beveridge (Don) and Amber Shull (Dale). A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held for family and close friends at a later date. Memorials should be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4030 Douglas Road, Toledo, OH 43613, or to the Parks Scholarship Fund, BGSU Foundation, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH 43403-0055.
