Larry L. Zerby, age 76, of Toledo, died May 18, 2015 at Regency Hospital in Sylvania. He was born July 22, 1938 in Mansfield to the late Lewis and Marie (Chapman) Zerby. Larry graduated from Mansfield Madison High School in 1956 and served in the U.S. Army, enjoying his duty stationed in Vicenza, Italy. He married Sondra Pickworth in 1960 and she lovingly survives. Also surviving are his children, David (Diane) Zerby, Diane (Robert) Parish, Debra (Jon) Ellenwood and Dawn (Michael) Lawrence; ten grandchildren whom he adored; and sister, Janet Baker. He was also preceded in death by infant son, Michael; and sister, Betty Baum. Larry was employed for 22 years at GMAC, retiring in 1978, and later worked and retired from Hatfield Oldsmobile in Maumee. He attended Hampton Park Christian Church in Toledo for many years. Larry paired his love of sports with his passion for coaching for many years with the Old Orchard Little League baseball and softball teams. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Toledo Rockets. Larry loved spending time on numerous golf courses in Toledo. Family was the most important thing to him and he loved the opportunities of supporting his children and grandchildren in their various activities. Larry will be remembered for honesty and integrity in all his endeavors. Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.), Toledo. A celebration of Larry’s life will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ashland, Ohio. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the celebration beginning at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family invites people to consider donations to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice. Special words of appreciation to the staff at Hickman Cancer Center, Flower Hospital, and Regency Hospital for the wonderful care provided.
