Larry Gilbert Cover

July 5, 1942 — January 8, 2024

Larry Gibert Cover, 81, of Oak Harbor, Ohio passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at home. He was born on July 5, 1942 in Port Clinton, Ohio to Harvey P. and Betty (Malin) Cover. Larry married Mary Orshovsky on October 1, 1977, and she survives. Larry was a caring husband to Mary for 46 years. He loved to help his father and brother fish commercially in the Spring and Fall during his younger years, as well as take his wife and sons minnowing. The lake was his happy place, when he wasn’t on the road hauling his semi-trailer, of course. Larry’s love of the water kept him going back as often as he could to fish and enjoy the nature surrounding him. His family will miss Larry, the man himself and person he was the most. He was a great man that everyone loved and could depend on. Larry set a great example for his family.

Naturally, Larry was a hard worker. He was an iron worker for Local #55 from 1970-1977, and he continued the trade throughout his life. Although he was nicknamed “Wrong Way”, he knew how to operate a semi-truck very well. He owned his own truck and hauled various parts and materials for 36 years. Mary often joined him on his long hauls as his passenger. After his retirement, Larry helped Mary at her workplace, and he never missed a day. He embodied what it means to be reliable.

In addition to his loving wife, Larry is survived by his children Nadine, Nannette, Nora, Larry Brian Cover, and Chad Cody Cover, grandchildren, Mercedes Cover, Rhiley Cover, Lily Cover, Noah Ballard-Cover, and several other grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Carolyn Witt, Barbara (Brent) Stover, Pamela Merkle, and Debra Wilson. Larry is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harvey Cover, Jr.

Larry will be cremated under the direct care of the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions in memory of Larry may be given to the Ottawa County Humane Society or a charity of donor’s choice.
