Larry N. Benefield

Larry N. Benefield, 79, of Gibsonburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, on Thursday, June 13, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born on November 7, 1944, in Talladega, Alabama, the son of Leslie and Irene (Underwood) Benefield. His family moved to Genoa, and he graduated in 1963 from Genoa High School, the last class to graduate from the old high school. He then entered the U.S. Army and served in the 1st Infantry Division until he was called home due to the sudden death of his parents.

Larry started his career at Dohler-Jarvis and American Motors Jeep and later becoming a tool and diemaker at Ford Motor Company in Maumee, Ohio, for 30 years until his retirement. He always enjoyed being with his family and attending all his grandchildren’s athletic events and other school activities. Other interests he had included going to the casino, working on old and classic cars, watching NASCAR races, and being an avid Alabama fan; Roll Tide!

Larry is survived by his loving family, daughter, Lisa Sentle, son, Brian (Regina) Benefield, grandchildren, Molly (Andrew) Burmeister, Allyson Sentle, Olivia, Clara, and Lucas Benefield, and siblings, Ken (Sharon) Benefield, Elaine Gerkensmeyer, Patsy (Sherman) Mezo, Criss Benefield and Rebecca (Joseph) Hoffman. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Monette Croll, Ronald Benefield, Sheila Jensen and Michael Benefield, along with his brothers-in-law, George Gerkensmeyer and James Croll.

Visitation will be held for Larry on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. The visitation will be followed by the memorial service at 12:00 PM. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Sandusky County Humane Society, 1315 N.
